mc farm

Me, as being an animal lover, even in minecraft, like to keep things to too many animals. They are many other people in this world like me. So I decided to write about making farm in Minecraft. These are just tips, that I seem to like. So I decided to share them with you.

  1. Do not make too big of a plot.

It takes quite too long to fence it off, and then travelling through it can get quite hard. Instead, make a few smaller ones. Once when I made a giant farm, I really couldn’t get everywhere and ‘tend’ to the animals and veggies, and harvesting the wheat was a nightmare.

  2. Keep wolves to ‘guard’ your place. Keeping dogs in your place… Well, I just love doggies. They add a very realistic look to your farm; dogs guarding the place and livestock, and shepherd dogs guarding you livestock and keeping them at bay, like keeping chickens of of your veggie patch, and cheeky horses away from your wheat. Other than just that, your dogs will help you kill trespassers if you are playing multiplayer, and fight of the night mobs.

  3. Grow your wheat in rows. This may not seem beneficial to you, but I really like this technique. It keep’s you crops in order, so you know, row 1 is the oldest. Plant a row a day(minecraftian), and do not harvest while your planting. Then, let them grow. Row 1 will be ready to harvest earliest. When it is ready, harvest and plant. Repeat, till all have been harvested, and row 1 will probably be ready again.

  4. Put hay bales as the ‘bedding’ for your horses stalls. Hay bales will regenerate your hurt adult horses when they have no rider on them. Also, it grows the foals faster.

  5. Grow things in your fields. Grow long grass, flowers and trees in your fields, to make it look like the food for your horses, cows and sheep. Keep a pond in the middle as their drinking spot.

  6. Use wheat, carrots and seeds to guide the animals back in the barn. It is quite important to take your animals in during the night time, or if it is storming. If you are in peaceful difficulty, then you can take them indoors only when it storms, or if you are going out. Sometimes I prefer to leave all animals indoors for a bit, and ‘feed’ them properly, or to change the ‘bedding’ of their sheds in the fields. Then I lock them up outdoors and change their ‘bedding’ for the stables and pens.

  7. Make sheds in your fields, with hay bedding. It is important for you animals to have shelter in their fields from the harsh sun. They could be hurt, so hay bedding is good to regenerate horsies.

  8. Breed horses in bigger pens. I find breeding horses in small pens to hard, the animals always stay too close to lead each one. As small foals, they follow their mom everywhere. but as they grow up, you must make a quick jab, pull the mom out, then tame it and lead it. I like to breed in bigger pens, which have more space. And then of course, remove the dad, who will not be followed by the foal. Keeping each mom and her foal in large, spacious pens always help.

So that is it guys! All about farming, I know.. BTW, the row technique works for all, potatoes, wheat and carrots.

Bye Bye, see you next time!
